The 16th Annual Cobb Diaper Day will be held virtually throughout October 2024. Organized by the Barbara Hickey Children’s Fund – Cobb Diaper Day Committee, the event has facilitated the donation of over two million diapers to low-income families in Cobb County since its inception. This year, the goal is to collect more than 100,000 diapers.
Participants can contribute by making a donation at www.cobbdiaperday.com, purchasing diapers through the Cobb Diaper Day Wish-list on Amazon, organizing diaper collection days among employees or community members, or dropping off donations at designated community collection events. These drop-off events will take place on October 22 and October 24 from 2 PM to 6 PM at the Cobb EMC Solar Flower Garden in Marietta, GA.
Cobb Diaper Day was founded by Barbara Hickey in 2008 with a vision of community support for local families in need. The initiative highlights that small contributions can significantly impact those struggling with basic necessities. Low-income families often face tough choices between essential items like food and diapers. The prolonged use of wet diapers can lead to health issues such as diaper rash and increased stress within households.
Additional challenges for these families include:
- Food stamps do not cover hygiene products like diapers.
- The average monthly cost of diapers is around $100.
- Daycare centers require parents to supply their own diapers.
Diapers collected during this event will be distributed through various community partners including Cobb Douglas Public Health, Communities in Schools of Georgia in Marietta/Cobb County, LiveSafe Resources, MUST Ministries, Ser Familia, Simple Needs GA, Sweetwater Mission, and The Center for Family Resources.

The Barbara Hickey Children’s Fund was established as a 501(c)3 fund under the Cobb Community Foundation in 2008 by Barbara Hickey and community leaders. The committee aims to raise awareness about the need for affordable diapers among low-income families. Since its start, nearly two million diapers have been supplied to the Cobb community.
