The Cobb Tank competition returned in 2024, showcasing the innovative ideas of educators from the Cobb County School District. This annual event, resembling a high-stakes reality show, provided a platform for teachers to present their imaginative projects aimed at transforming student learning experiences.

Nine teams participated in this year's competition, presenting their proposals to the "Sharks." The projects varied from STEM initiatives to health-focused classroom transformations. All nine proposals received full funding, with grants totaling $68,000.

One funded project involves integrating physical activity with academics by having students use stationary bikes or Desk Cycles while engaging in math and literature tasks. Another initiative introduces middle school students to robotics through programming robot dogs. High school students will explore synthetic biology to tackle global issues creatively and scientifically.

For younger children, a sensory gym is designed to aid those with developmental delays and sensory challenges. A portable learning lab offers elementary students hands-on scientific discovery paired with literacy activities.

Several projects focus on literacy and communication skills. One provides resources for English language learners, promoting inclusive classrooms. Another blends literacy with STEM lessons to encourage critical thinking across subjects.

Cobb Tank 2024 Winning Proposals include:

- Barber Middle School: Who Let the Dogs Out

- Brumby Elementary School: Voices in Action: Cultivating Confident Communicators

- Griffin Middle School: Peddling our Way to Better Health and Academics at Griffin Middle School!

- Kemp Elementary School: Reading into STEM: Engaging Minds through Literacy-Integrated STEM Lessons
