The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) has recognized several schools for their exceptional academic performance and improvement. Among these are McCall Primary School, designated as a "Distinguished" school, and Norton Park Elementary, acknowledged as a "Reward" school.

The designation of Distinguished Schools is given to the top 5% of Title I schools in Georgia based on combined English Language Arts (ELA) and math scores from statewide assessments during the 2022-2023 period. Reward Schools are identified as those among the top 5% that have shown significant improvements when comparing assessment scores from 2021-2022 to 2022-2023.

Additionally, two Cobb County schools, City View Elementary and Cobb Horizon High School, were recognized for progress in the Content Mastery component of the College & Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI). These schools demonstrated a 5% increase in CCRPI Content Mastery scores from 2023 to 2024 and achieved at least an 80 in one other component such as Progress, Closing Gaps, or Readiness.

State School Superintendent Richard Woods praised the efforts made by students and educators: "I am incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication demonstrated by all the students, teachers, and school communities recognized today," he stated. He also highlighted the collaboration with GaDOE's Office of School & District Improvement in helping these institutions achieve better performance outcomes.

Woods added that both Distinguished and Reward Schools have overcome challenges to make significant educational gains. "Together, these schools prove that with collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to success, all students can achieve their fullest potential," he said.

Cobb Schools received commendations for their achievements along with gratitude extended towards teachers for aiding students in reaching new milestones.
