Sonic Edge, the a cappella group from Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts (CCCEPA) at Pebblebrook High School, has advanced to the semifinals of the International Championship of High School A cappella (ICHSA). Their performance on February 7th at the University of Tennessee marked the beginning of their 2025 competition season. Competing against over 250 groups, Sonic Edge's dynamic set included "Retrograde" by James Blake, "My Days" from the Broadway musical The Notebook, and "The Code" by NEMO. Their performance earned them first place among nine competing groups.

Elise Lloyd, a standout performer in Sonic Edge, received the "Best Solo" award for her rendition of "My Days." Trey Giddens, CCCEPA's Director of Vocal Music, expressed pride in the students' dedication and hard work. "The preparation for this competition was intense," Giddens said. He highlighted how returning members mentored new ones, fostering teamwork and determination.

CCCEPA Director Robert Connor praised Mr. Giddens and Ms. Evelyn White for their leadership in growing the vocal program. Connor noted that one patron described Sonic Edge's performance as being at a college professional level.

As they head to the semifinals at Carolina Theatre in Durham, North Carolina on March 7th, Sonic Edge aims to secure another ICHSA national championship title.
