Kell High School senior Norah Lanaghan has been recognized as the school's 2024-2025 PAGE STAR Student. Lanaghan chose Gary Hicks, a Drama teacher at Kell High School, as her STAR Teacher.
Norah received this recognition for her academic achievement and performance on the SAT.
The PAGE Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program is sponsored, administered, and promoted by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) and the PAGE Foundation. Since its start in 1958, the STAR program has honored nearly 29,500 students and their teachers who have been selected as most influential to their academic success. To qualify for a STAR nomination, high school seniors must achieve the highest score on a single test date on the SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average.
Each year in participating Georgia high schools, a STAR Student is named who then selects a STAR Teacher to share in this recognition. The students and their teachers are honored by their schools and receive special recognition from one of more than 172 statewide civic organizations and businesses that serve as local sponsors of the STAR program. Students compete for school system recognition as top STAR Student, with winners advancing to regional honors. Region winners contend for State PAGE STAR Student status. Throughout all levels of the program, STAR Teachers continue alongside their STAR Students.
"We are very proud of Ms. Lanaghan and Mr. Hicks and the academic excellence they exemplify at Kell High School."
