Joseph Peart, a paraprofessional at King Springs Elementary School, has been recognized as the Classified Employee of the Year (CEOTY) for his outstanding contributions to the school community. The announcement was made during a staff meeting on March 25, 2025.

Classified employees in the Cobb County School District are essential support staff, including paraprofessionals like Peart, custodians, clerical staff, and food service workers. These individuals play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of schools.

Joseph Peart's dedication and positive attitude have significantly impacted both students and staff at King Springs Elementary. His role involves assisting with classroom management, supporting instruction by working with small groups or individual students, preparing instructional materials, supervising students during various activities, providing individualized support, and collaborating with teachers.

First Grade Teacher Katherine Sharp nominated Peart for this award. She praised his ability to work across multiple classrooms throughout the day while maintaining a positive demeanor. "Joseph works in so many classrooms throughout the school day. No matter where he is or what is asked of him, he does it with a smile on his face and with a good attitude," Sharp stated.

The announcement was made even more special as Joseph's mother, Karen Williamson—also a paraprofessional—joined the meeting to celebrate her son's achievement. The entire King Springs Elementary School staff participated in voting for this recognition.

Peart's commitment extends beyond regular school hours as he continues to work in the After School Program (ASP), engaging students with energy and enthusiasm.

King Springs Elementary Principal Ashley Mize and Teacher of the Year Haleigh Coleman were also present during the announcement.
