RIVER RIDGE HIGH SCHOOL: CCSD Recognizes 2021-22 Student Advisor and Delegates to the School Board

Board

River Ridge High School issued the following announcement on Aug. 26.

The Cherokee County School Board recently congratulated its new class of Student Delegates!

The School Board has included a Student Advisor position on its board since 1999, and, for the past 11 years, a Student Delegate from each high school also has been selected.  These outstanding high school seniors serve for one year to give input and feedback to the School Board and to the Superintendent of Schools and his senior staff; the advisor role, which includes the opportunity to sit on the dais with the School Board, is rotated among the district's high schools.  The innovative engagement program earned the School Board the Georgia School Boards Association’s 2020 Leading Edge Award.

The Student Delegates were introduced at last week’s School Board meeting and met with Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower to learn more about their important role.

“Our Student Delegates represent the best and brightest of our exceptional high school seniors, and we’re incredibly appreciative that they give up valuable time from their busy schedules to serve their community in this additional role,” Dr. Hightower said.  “From helping shape online instruction to influencing cafeteria menus to impacting technology purchases, these student leaders’ give their classmates a voice in the decision-making process for the School Board and the School District.”
