Marietta City Schools is scheduling a vaccine clinic in anticipation of the FDA approval of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 - 11.

11 Alive News reports that Marietta City Schools sent a letter to parents informing them the vaccine clinic has been tentatively scheduled for the morning of Saturday, Nov. 6, to be held at one of the elementary schools. The date is subject to change depending on FDA approval.

Georgia family doctor Cecil Bennett is encouraging parents to get their children vaccinated as soon as possible and voiced his confidence in the effectiveness of the vaccine. 

"I think the research and data is abundant. There’s no doubt about the efficacy of the vaccine,’’ Dr. Bennett said in an interview with 11 Alive News.

The district is also planning to host a virtual family town with Cobb & Douglas Public Health prior to the clinic to provide more information about the Pfizer vaccine.

The White House recently laid out a vaccine schedule in hopes of getting children fully vaccinated by Christmas, according to       11 Alive News. The Pfizer vaccine is administered in two doses and children who get their first shot within the first couple weeks of the expected FDA approval in early November will be fully vaccinated by Dec. 25.
