Acworth
For the city of Acworth, Alderman Post 4 was won by Tim Richardson with 53.68% of the votes, compared to Kimberly Haase, who had 46.32%. Tommy Allegood ran unopposed for mayor and Tim Houston ran unopposed for Alderman Post 5.
Austell
In Austell, incumbents Melanie Maria Elder and Lamar Marlin, Jr. ran unopposed to take city council seats. Meredith Adams took the third seat, also running unopposed.
Kennesaw
In Kennesaw, there were two contested races for city council at large seats.
Antonio Jones beat Chris Henderson 55.36% to 44.64% for Post 4 and Post 5 was won by Trey Sinclair with 52.82%, compared to Jon Fred Brothers, who had 47.18%. Pat Ferris ran unopposed to take Post 3.
Marietta
In Marietta, incumbent Steve “Thunder” Tumlin won the mayoral race with 57.16% of the vote to defeat Michelle Cooper Kelly with 42.84%.
For city council, Grif Chalfant defeated John Silver 65.35% to 34.65%. Andy Morris defeated Ted Ferreira 62.05% to 37.95%. M. Carlyle Kent had 38.27% to defeat Reginald Maurice Copeland with 34.2% and Cristina Stallworth with 27.53%. Cheryl Richardson, Johnny Walker, Andre Sims and Joseph Goldstein ran unopposed to take the remaining city council seats in Wards 1, 3, 6 and 7, respectively.
For the Muni School Board in Marietta, Jeff DeJarnett beat Alex Castro 59.63% to 40.37% for the Ward 1 seat. Ward 2 was won by Jason Waters, who had 66.41% while PJ Hardy had 33.59%. Ward 3 was won by A.B. Almy with 71.78%, defeating Erica D. Bush, who had 28.22%. Ward 4 went to Jaillene Hunter, who had 57.31% to defeat George Darden with 31.39% and Angie Smith with 11.3%. The final three spots were uncontested and went to Angela Orange, Kerry Minervini and Irene Holly Berens.
Powder Springs
In Powder Springs, incumbent Nancy Farmer lost in what was an incredibly tight race to Dwayne Green, who took the City Council Ward 3 seat with 50.59% compared to 49.41%. It was reported that Green had 258 votes compared to 252 for Farmer. Henry Lust took Ward 1 and Doris Dawkins took Ward 2 in uncontested races.
