Cobb Schools issued the following announcement on Mar. 18.
Are you interested in joining the Cobb Schools team of educators? The Cobb County School District is hosting a virtual K-12 teacher job fair on March 29-31, 2022.
During the three-day virtual job fair, group sessions and individual sessions with school administrative teams will be available for candidates seeking teaching positions for the 2022-2023 school year.
Ahead of the virtual job fair, candidates will be able to see all the current job vacancies for the upcoming school year.
Candidates must complete a Cobb Schools job application before attending the job fair. In addition to completing an employment application, candidates must apply for a specific job to be considered for it.
“We are the second-largest school district in Georgia and are the largest employer in Cobb County. We have a little over 18,000 employees, and right now, we’re looking at a little over 107,000 students,” explained Amanda Shaw, Assistant Director of Employment. “So, there are lots of opportunities for candidates as a new teacher, a veteran teacher, or if they’re looking to get outside the classroom to build their leadership efficacy of who they are as a leader.”
Cobb Schools Wins Awards for Employee Benefits, Recruitment
Each year the Cobb Schools recruitment team attends about 40 job fairs from Georgia to Texas, down to Florida, and up to Kentucky, inviting candidates to join the team that has been named one of the best employers in Georgia, three years in a row.
“In Cobb County, we are one team, and we believe very much in the one team. We live that, whether it is day to day at our schools or at central office. We’re meeting in our collaborative groups, and we have that professional learning community where we’re supporting each other,” Ms. Shaw added.
Ms. Shaw and her recruitment team meet a variety of candidates during the job fairs. Some are brand new teachers or students getting ready to graduate. Some are veteran teachers from another school district looking to join the Cobb Schools team. There are also candidates from out of state and those looking to start a second career inside the classroom.
“Cobb County is the best place to teach, lead and learn, regardless of what position you’re applying, whether it’s a teaching position, you’re working as a paraprofessional, an administrator, a custodian, or a bus drive. There’s a place here for everyone,” Ms. Shaw explained. “For our new teachers, our starting salary is very competitive to other school districts.”
Why Cobb bus drivers love their jobs
The educators who join the Cobb Schools team, stay. That is why 98% of the District’s full-time eligible educators are returning for the 2022-2023 school year.
Although the upcoming virtual job fair is only for K-12 teachers, candidates for other positions are welcome and encouraged to apply as soon as they see a position available.
“This summer, we’re looking at having a district job fair where we’re going to look at hiring classified and certified positions. The job fair will address any openings that we have so we can hire the best candidates whether they’re inside the classroom, are working in our maintenance department, in the Central office, or elsewhere in the District,” Ms. Shaw said. “Whether you’re a teacher or you’re looking to be a clerk, a counselor, a secretary, a bookkeeper, custodian, or in transportation, there’s a place for everyone here in Cobb County.”
