Atlanta Gas Light has made a significant contribution of $15,000 to the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation, enabling the establishment of two new scholarships at Chattahoochee Technical College. The donation was formally presented by representatives from Atlanta Gas Light at the college's Marietta Campus on April 4.
"Atlanta Gas Light is proud to make this donation toward supporting workforce development in our community," stated Kenny Horton, the Northwest Metro Director of Regional Operations for Atlanta Gas Light. Horton, who also serves on the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation Board of Trustees, expressed the company's desire to inspire students to consider AGL as a future employer by utilizing the technical skills acquired at Chatt Tech.
The $15,000 donation from Atlanta Gas Light will fund two $1,000 scholarships, set to be awarded by the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation on April 19. Additionally, the contribution will assist in providing emergency grants for students in need. Furthermore, Atlanta Gas Light will serve as a sponsor for the Foundation's 2024 scholarship awards presentation event and the 2024 SPARK Workforce awards event.
Jennifer Nelson, the Chattahoochee Tech Vice President of Advancement and Executive Director for the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation, highlighted the significance of AGL's support in aiding the Foundation to offer resources that keep students enrolled, leading them towards graduation and eventual employment in the local workforce.
The Chattahoochee Tech Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing financial support for Chattahoochee Technical College, its students, and programs, expressed gratitude for the contribution from Atlanta Gas Light.
The Atlanta Gas Light employees who gathered at the Chattahoochee Tech Marietta Campus for the donation presentation included Carlton McDougle, Janene Crawford, Randall Spencer, Colleen Parker, Kenny Horton, Jamie Martinez, and Tracy Belo. They stood alongside Amanda Henderson and Jennifer Nelson of Chattahoochee Tech during the event.
