Mount Paran Christian School, the largest private covenantal Christian school in Cobb County, celebrated the opening of its new dining facility and kitchen with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, August 12, 2024.

This summer, the kitchen and dining hall underwent an extensive $2.5 million renovation to increase the capacity for higher-quality food preparation and create more seating space for the over 1,500 students and staff served daily. The donors who invested in this project have significantly impacted the functionality and continued to foster the culture of fellowship within the MPCS community.

In the dining hall area, seating needs for a growing school that serves hundreds of meals a day are now maximized with new counter-height and banquet-style seating in the rear along with new furnishings throughout. A new sound system, screens, and a projector were added for various meeting needs of staff, students, and parent groups. Another major goal met by the renovation was to replace and reconfigure all servery furnishings including mainline, salad, sandwich, soup, and beverage stations. The addition of two new self-service lines for grades 2-12 along with two panini grill stations has enabled faster, more efficient service. To continue being good stewards of the environment, new reusable dishware is now in place along with a new dishwashing station in the kitchen area. The concession area has also been outfitted with new appliances along with a pizza oven.

For the kitchen area, the renovation included a reconfiguration and addition of prep space as well as replacing and upgrading cooking equipment and appliances to improve flavor, texture, volume capacity, and production speed. An additional refrigeration unit in the loading dock area enabled streamlining fresh ingredient delivery and added refrigeration space for advance food prep like meat marination.

The celebratory ribbon-cutting on the first day of school with parents, board members, staff, partners, and supporters marked a positive start to the school year. MPCS expressed gratitude: "With gratitude," MPCS thanks God for this amazing blessing for the students and the school."
