Mount Paran Christian School (MPCS) has announced a notable achievement, with its students attaining a 91% pass rate on Advanced Placement (AP) exams taken last spring. This success was achieved by the high school students who participated in 398 AP exams. In addition to this accomplishment, 81 MPCS students and recent graduates received Advanced Placement Scholar Awards for their exceptional performance.

The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program allows motivated high school students to take college-level courses and earn college credit or advanced placement based on their exam results. Typically, about 20% of the two million students worldwide who take AP Exams achieve scores that qualify them for an AP Scholar Award.

MPCS faculty and students have maintained a strong record over the past five years, consistently achieving passing rates above 80%. The high pass rates allow many MPCS alumni to enter college with significant core course credits, facilitating opportunities for further academic pursuits such as second majors or early graduation. Notably, seven subjects at MPCS had perfect pass rates: AP Human Geography, AP Spanish Language, AP Environmental Science, AP US History, AP 2D Art, AP 3D Art, and AP Drawing. Teachers Kelly Tarver, David Fitzpatrick, Richard Searle, Martha Troutman, and Sandy Hamilton were recognized for their contributions in these areas.

MPCS was named to the 2024 AP School Gold Honor Roll due to its effective delivery of results and increased access to AP programs for students. This recognition is part of an annual distinction awarded based on schools' ability to foster a college-going culture and maximize college readiness. Additionally, MPCS qualified for platinum status from the College Board for its efforts in providing college credit opportunities.

Research indicates that participation in AP courses increases the likelihood of attending college and graduating on time. Students entering four-year colleges with AP credits often graduate sooner and are better prepared for academic challenges.

Mount Paran Christian School is an independent non-denominational institution offering education from preschool through grade 12. Founded in 1976 near Kennesaw Mountain on a large campus, it emphasizes academic excellence within a Christian environment.
