Shallowford Falls Elementary School is set to host its Fall Book Fair from November 18 to 22, 2024. The event aims to share books and raise funds for new library resources.
Online shopping is available at the school's store, offering a wider selection of books and games than those found at the in-person fair. Some items purchased online will be delivered directly to buyers, while others will be sent to the school. Digital gift cards are also available for students and teachers. "Please check it out, as we receive the same percentage from purchases online," said organizers.
This year’s in-person book fair will focus solely on books, with no posters or stationery items available. "We hope it will be reassuring to know that all book fair money you send will be spent on books," the announcement stated.
Family Night is scheduled for Tuesday, November 19th, coinciding with a fourth-grade musical performance. The fair's hours vary throughout the week: open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on Tuesday; Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm; and closing at noon on Friday.
Special events include Kindergarten Feast Day on November 19th and Fifth Grade Feast Day on November 20th. These days allow parents to dine with their children and shop together at the fair.
Parents of first through third graders are invited to shop with their child’s class during designated times shared by teachers.
Volunteers are needed for Family Night and Feast Days. Interested individuals can sign up online and receive a 20% discount on in-person purchases.
The book fair accepts various payment methods including cash, debit/credit cards, checks made payable to SFES, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, and Literati Book Fair gift cards.
Profits from this year's book fair will support purchasing new library books, subscriptions to Book Flix and True Flix database platforms, and acquiring two new book carts.
Jennifer Head (Librarian), Ashli Lyons (Library Paraprofessional), and Silpa Kakumanu (Book Fair Volunteer Coordinator) expressed gratitude for community support: "Thank you for supporting the Shallowford Falls school library!"
