This holiday season, the Cobb County School District has been actively involved in spreading cheer and providing support to families across the county. Santa's "elves" have collected an impressive array of donations including 2,000 gifts, over 1,000 coats, and 200 sets of colorful sheets. These efforts aim to ensure that every family within the district experiences the magic of the holidays.

Various groups contributed to this initiative. The central office staff adopted families, while Cobb EMC donated a significant number of coats—948 in total. District social workers played a key role by delivering toys, coats, and sheets to families throughout Cobb County. At Pearson Middle School, students assisted in unpacking and sorting sheets donated by PeachSkinSheets.

Toy donations were also received at Sedalia Park Elementary School. Social workers distributed these toys to LaBelle Elementary School, Nickajack Elementary School, Birney Elementary School, Fair Oaks Elementary School, and Pine Mountain Middle School.

Birney Elementary saw Salesforce step up once again as part of Santa’s team by raising funds for gifts for all fifth-grade students—a tradition started last year. Amber Heath, a fifth-grade teacher at Birney Elementary shared her experience: “One of my students told me today...that I’ve inspired him to be a teacher when he grows up.” She added that her students were "shocked," "overjoyed," and filled with gratitude during the gift opening event.

At Hendricks Elementary School, support from the Austell Police Foundation and Operation Christmas 2024 brought holiday joy to students and their families through community generosity.

While schools prepared for winter break, Cobb Schools social workers continued their efforts by delivering comfort items such as cozy sheets and toys across the district. Pearson Middle School is set to keep its Fresh Market and Pilot’s Hangar open on December 21st to assist school families with essential needs.

The combined efforts of Cobb staff members, students, and community partners have ensured that many families will enjoy a brighter holiday season.
