Due to anticipated icy and snowy conditions, Cobb County has decided to close all schools and offices on Friday, January 10th. The closure is intended to ensure the safety of students and staff who may be traveling in potentially hazardous road conditions. This measure affects over 105,000 students in the area.

In addition to the school closures, all extracurricular activities, including sports events scheduled for both Friday, January 10th, and Saturday, January 11th, have been canceled.

The district acknowledges that such sudden schedule changes can be challenging for families but emphasizes that the decision is driven by a commitment to student safety.

For those interested in understanding more about how winter weather decisions are made by the district, a podcast is available for further insight.
