King Springs Elementary School is set to participate in Read Across Cobb Week from March 3rd to March 7th. The event aims to encourage a love for reading among students through various activities.
The week begins with "Digital Discover" on Monday, where students will explore digital books and online resources using platforms like Sora, the Cobb Digital Library, and Beanstack. This initiative promotes technology as a tool for learning.
On Tuesday, the theme "Reading Makes Us Bright" invites students to wear bright colors and sunglasses as they engage in activities that highlight the joy of reading.
Wednesday's theme is "Books Take You Places," encouraging students to dress up as their favorite book characters or in attire representing different cultures. The aim is to show how books can transport readers to new worlds.
Thursday's theme, "Reading Jogs the Mind," suggests that students wear athletic clothes, emphasizing that reading benefits the mind just as exercise benefits the body.
The week concludes with "Cozy Up with a Good Book" on Friday. Students are encouraged to wear pajamas and spend the day reading in a relaxed setting.
Special events include Dad's Club Reading on March 7th morning, where members will read in classrooms. Sign-ups are open for interested participants. Media Specialist Casey Hannaford will reward students logging their reading on Beanstack with surprises placed in teachers' mailboxes. Additionally, there is a Read Across America Bookmark Challenge for students to showcase creativity by designing bookmarks.
King Springs Elementary School anticipates a week of fun and learning centered around reading during Read Across Cobb Week.
