State School Superintendent Richard Woods has announced the recognition of 301 Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Schools from 104 school districts in Georgia for the year 2025. This acknowledgment is based on the results of AP courses and exams conducted in 2024.

“Georgia's 2025 AP Honor Schools exemplify our commitment to providing students with rigorous, high-quality educational opportunities that prepare them for success beyond high school,” stated Superintendent Woods. He further praised these schools for their dedication to academic excellence and their role in equipping students with essential knowledge and skills. “I am delighted the number of AP Honor Schools and school districts has risen again this year – a continued testament to the commitment of Georgia public education to expand opportunities for all Georgia students.”

The schools are categorized into eight groups, reflecting various achievements in AP course participation and exam performance. The College Board administers these exams, which also oversees the SAT. Students who score between 3 and 5 on an AP exam may be eligible for college credit. The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) started recognizing AP Honor Schools in 2008.

Kell High School received honors across several categories:

- As an "AP Expansion School," it demonstrated a 25% growth in student participation from May 2023 to May 2024, with at least 25 students participating.

- It was named an "AP Humanities School" by administering at least five exams across specified subjects, including English Language Arts, social studies, fine arts, and world languages.

- Kell High was also recognized as an "AP Humanities Achievement School," where over half of its humanities exams scored a three or higher.

- In STEM fields, it achieved recognition as both an "AP STEM School" and an "AP STEM Achievement School," meeting criteria similar to those for humanities but within math, science, and computer science disciplines.

- Lastly, it earned the title of "AP Access and Support School" by having at least 30% of its exams taken by African American or Hispanic students while maintaining high scores.
