The Cobb County School District is set to welcome a new class of kindergarteners this August. The teachers, including seasoned educators like Heather Garrett, emphasize their dedication to nurturing and teaching young students. "I became a teacher because, at ten years old, I knew I wanted to be the person who instilled the love of learning in a child's life. I taught my sister and my stuffed animals until I could teach real students," Garrett explained, showing her lifelong passion for teaching.

Garrett shared her enthusiasm for working with young learners: “I love teaching kindergarten because I’m able to instill a foundation for children.” This sentiment is echoed by another Cobb kindergarten teacher, Erica Tillery, who reassures parents on what can be an emotional day. "We've had parents that will cry on the first day because it's maybe their first child, and they're sending them off for the first time. Just know that your children are safe and loved when they are at school,” Tillery stated.

Sarah Stewart, a dedicated Cobb kindergarten teacher, affirmed the district's supportive environment, “All Cobb elementary schools are full of adults who love children. That’s why we’re here. We want your child to feel safe, happy, and excited to come to school every day.” Tillery added, “Cobb County schools would be a great choice for any family because we teach kids how to be 21st-century learners. We’re giving them the skills to collaborate, think critically, and interact with a diverse world."

The kindergarten registration process for Cobb County Schools is designed to be straightforward and efficient with an online student registration system. This system allows families to register all new students and manage their progress through a secure online portal. For families with existing students, the ParentVUE account can be used to add additional registrations. In the event that accessing ParentVUE isn't possible, a local school can provide an activation code.

Parents preparing to register their children for kindergarten can follow the provided checklist. Necessary documents include proof of residency, a certificate of immunization, vision, hearing, dental, and nutritional screening certificates, proof of birthdate, and either a Social Security Card or a CCSD Waiver Form. It's advised for parents to check their specific school’s website for any additional requirements.
