As the new school year approaches, East Side Elementary School has announced its plan for class placements for the 2025-2026 academic year. The process involves numerous considerations to ensure that each student is placed in the most suitable classroom environment for their education.
Principal Maria Clark highlights the importance of this task, stating, “This is an extensive project that requires much time and energy to ensure that the best possible class is formed for each child according to their needs.” Factors such as academic ability, behavioral characteristics, and learning styles will be taken into account when forming class lists.
East Side Elementary is also seeking input from parents. Clark elaborates, “One important piece of information that we choose to use at East Side is parent input. I welcome and encourage parent input through an Input form.” This form is optional but provides an opportunity for parents to describe the kind of learning environment they believe is best for their child. However, parents are advised against requesting specific teachers by name or classroom placements with other children, except in the case of twins.
The electronic parent input forms are available online and must be completed by the enrolling adult by 3 pm on Tuesday, April 15th. The forms are designated for rising kindergarten through fifth-grade students. Current students at East Side who will not be returning next academic year must submit a separate form to inform the school of their departure.
There are firm policies regarding the input forms: only one form per child is allowed, and the information provided should be brief and accurate. Clark urges parents to complete the forms carefully, stating, “We welcome your input about your child as we begin the placement process and I encourage you to complete a placement form.”
For those with changing plans, such as deciding to return to East Side after initially opting out, communication with the registration clerk Meredith Hay will be necessary to ensure all administrative requirements are met.
The school assures parents that every effort will be made to provide an optimal learning experience for all students as this important administrative task is undertaken.
