Critical Race Theory has been a hot-button issue across the nation, with Americans are split among party lines as to what actions parents should take if their child is enrolled in a school that is teaching it, according to a new poll.

The Georgia Board of Education recently passed a resolution voicing their opposition to teaching the theory in K-12 public schools, after Gov. Brian Kemp called for the board to keep the theory out of the state curriculum.

“I applaud the members of the state Board of  Education for making it clear this dangerous, anti-American ideology has no place in Georgia classrooms,” Kemp said in a press release. “With their vote today, state school board members have ensured education in the Peach State will reflect the freedom, equality and (the) God-given potential of each individual.”

A survey conducted by the Trafalgar Group, in conjunction with the Convention of States Action, asked 1,091 likely general election voters about their views regarding the theory.

The poll found that about half of those surveyed believe that parents who oppose Critical Race Theory in their children's schools should take action against it, with 51.8% backing action.

However, the survey also found that there wasn’t a consensus on what action to take, with 27.7% supporting removing a child from school and 24.1% saying that parents should run or support candidates for school board that would take control of the school's governing body.

The results were clearly split by party, with Republicans being the most likely to support action against the theory. 71.3% of GOP-aligned respondents supported action, compared to only 38.5% of Democrats and 43.7% of independents or third-party respondents backing action.

The Convention of States Action is a grassroots political organization with over five million supporters across the United States. The organization's objective is on calling an Article V Convention of the States to propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution and only promotes amendments which would impose limitations on the size and scope of the federal government.

The Trafalgar Group is a public polling and market research firm that Real Clear Politics called the 'most accurate pollster of the cycle among those firms that polled multiple Senate and governor races” this year.
