Pink billboards are popping up across Atlanta with messages designed to spark interest in antisemitism conversations.
Julie Katz of the American Jewish Committee, said antisemitism is on the rise in the United States and she hopes to get people talking about the problem, according to a FOX 5 Atlanta report.
"There have been a lot of conversations about racism, about hatred against minority groups, which are extremely important, and we should be having those conversations, but oftentimes antisemitism or hatred against Jews is left out of those conversations," Katz told FOX 5.
There are currently two hot pink billboards in Atlanta, with plans for that number to increase to 10, the report stated. Each will feature a different message around the same theme, bringing anti-Semitism into the conversation.
"Jews make up only 2% of the American population, but we are the victims of 53.8% of religious motivated hate crimes,” Katz said.
The campaign comes as a part of a national effort orchestrated by the non-profit JewBelong organization to address the rising number of attacks on the Jewish people over the last year, including in Cobb County, Fox 5 reported. Swastikas have been found scrawled on school walls in the county.
Similar antisemitism billboards can also be found in New York, Boston, Miami, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Washington, the report stated.
