Georgia Schools Superintendent Richard Woods recently visited Mountain View Elementary School to honor Dodgen Middle School as one of 25 schools in Cobb County recognized as Literacy Leaders. This acknowledgment highlights the literacy achievements across elementary, middle, and high schools within the county.

Board member Brad Wheeler emphasized the importance of literacy in education, stating, “Literacy is the foundation of success, and it’s clear Cobb students have a strong foundation. Our schools are recognized as leaders because our teachers are able to focus on what matters and use Georgia standards as their guide.”

Each school acknowledged for its literacy accomplishments received a Literacy Leader Banner. Notably, this year marked the first time middle schools were included in this recognition, with five Cobb middle schools receiving the inaugural honor.
