Cobb Schools’ Athlete of the Week program recognizes male and female student-athletes for their performance in sports, academics, and community involvement. This initiative is supported by BSN Sports.

This week's honorees are Cooper Negron from North Cobb and Amanda Vlkovic from Pope. Negron, a linebacker for the Warriors, has been instrumental in his team's undefeated season and Region 5-6A Championship victory. He leads the county with 76 solo tackles, 46 assists, 10 tackles for loss, and four sacks. His coach, Shane Queen, praised him as "the epitome of what you look for in a student-athlete," highlighting his 4.2 GPA and community service.

Amanda Vlkovic played a crucial role in leading the Lady Greyhounds to a state title in volleyball against Woodward Academy. She excelled in serve receive during the final match with a score of 2.48 out of three points and contributed significantly to her team's success with digs, assists, and no service errors. Her coach Erica Miller described her as "our team's steady rock," noting her leadership qualities.

Pope Athletic Director Josh Mathews shared a personal story about Amanda's connection to her sister through their shared jersey number, emphasizing the emotional significance of family legacy in high school sports.

Both athletes exemplify dedication both on and off the field or court. Congratulations are extended to North Cobb Football and Pope Volleyball for their achievements this season.
