Gina McClenning, a seasoned educator with 25 years of experience in Cobb Schools, has taken on the role of principal at Clay Harmony Leland Elementary School. Her career includes roles at Sanders Elementary School, Teasley Elementary School, and Hollydale Elementary School, where she focused on positively impacting students.

McClenning expressed her enthusiasm for her new position: “There are so many amazing things happening at Clay Harmony Leland, and I am honored to be chosen to lead this school community. The staff is strong and dedicated to student success, and the community is growing and committed to being an active part of the school, which is so exciting. I think my skills as an educator and leader and the already solid foundation that the school and community have are the perfect fit.”

In a profile interview, McClenning discussed her vision for student success. She stated that it encompasses academic, social, and emotional well-being. “My job is to ensure every person who is part of our school community is equipped to support students in all these areas,” she said.

McClenning plans to build on the school's achievements by fostering relationships and focusing on quality instruction. “Every student deserves a high-quality teacher by design, not by chance,” she emphasized.

She highlighted the importance of parental and community involvement in education: “I don’t think any school can truly be successful without the support of parents and the community... We cannot do it alone.”

Reflecting on her career, McClenning shared what she enjoys most about being an educator: “What I like most about being an educator and school leader is seeing the positive change that takes place over time with students and educators as their knowledge and experience grow.”

Outside of work, McClenning enjoys walking her dog around Smyrna or exploring Chattahoochee River trails. She also supports her daughter’s involvement in musical theatre in Atlanta.
