Cobb Schools' Athlete of the Week program recognizes outstanding male and female student-athletes excelling in sports, academics, and community involvement. The initiative is supported by BSN Sports.

Due to the holiday break and winter storms, the announcement of the first 2025 winners was delayed. Congratulations are extended to Desirae Holley from McEachern and Peter Gross from Walton.

Desirae Holley played a significant role in McEachern's flag football team during the 6A state title game in December. Her performance contributed to an undefeated 28-0 season for the Indians. In that decisive game, she recorded seven catches for 127 yards, scored one touchdown, and made one extra point. Over the season, Holley achieved 90 catches for 1,256 yards with 27 touchdowns and ten extra points, setting school records in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns.

Peter Gross excelled in wrestling at Walton during the Team Region Duals by winning both his matches. His efforts helped secure a second-place finish for the Raiders and qualification for the Team State Tournament for the first time since 2018. Gross has been instrumental as a leader on a young team comprised mainly of freshmen and sophomores. He has guided younger wrestlers in becoming successful varsity athletes while maintaining a GPA above 3.5 with a challenging academic schedule.

The accomplishments of Desirae Holley and Peter Gross highlight their dedication both on the field and academically at McEachern and Walton.
