Cobb Schools' Information Systems department, under the leadership of Director Ryan Pynes, is capable of creating custom software solutions tailored to the needs of students, families, and staff. In a recent episode of The Inside Scoop, topics such as information services and technology were discussed.

The district opts for custom applications over off-the-shelf software to ensure they meet specific requirements. Cobb has invested in skilled professionals to develop these tailored solutions when needed. This approach allows the district to address unique challenges while maintaining high standards for security and efficiency.

An example of this initiative is the GoSafe student dismissal system, which was developed to enhance safety and accountability. The idea originated from a principal seeking a better method to track student departures from campus. The system helps maintain order, reduces hallway noise, and streamlines the car line process.

Another important tool is the field trip tracking system that ensures every student is accounted for during school trips. This system improves safety and efficiency by digitizing permission forms and providing real-time tracking of students.

In addition to custom development, the Information Systems team also reviews and approves external software vendors to ensure their products comply with security and privacy standards. The District remains committed to prioritizing safety, efficiency, and innovation through technology solutions that enhance the experience for students and parents.
