Connie Engel has been named the 2025 Cumberland Citizen of the Year by the Cobb Chamber and Cumberland CID. This award recognizes individuals whose significant contributions have positively impacted their community, serving as role models for others. The accolade was presented during the 2025 Cumberland Community Meeting on February 12.
Engel, who serves as CEO of Strada Communities, has a long history of involvement in the Cumberland area. She was a member of the Cumberland CID Board of Directors from 2000 to 2023. Her work in commercial real estate is well-regarded, and she has played a crucial role in various infrastructure projects that have shaped the region.
Among her notable achievements are contributions to major projects such as the Windy Hill Widening and Diverging Diamond Interchange, U.S. 41 (Cobb Parkway) Widening, New Day Palisades, and trails like Akers Mill and Bob Callan Trails. Engel's advocacy was instrumental in developing the Akers Mill Access Ramp for I-75 Northwest Corridor Express Lanes, which opened earlier this year.
In addition to her work with Strada Communities, Engel has managed development and leasing at Atlanta Galleria Office Park for over two decades. Her leadership extends to educational institutions where she served on Kennesaw State University Foundation's Board of Trustees as Chairwoman and trustee. She also holds a position on the Board of Directors for the Atlanta chapter of National Association of Corporate Directors.
