For Ella Zachery, the recent beautification project at Cobb's Adult Education building in Smyrna was a significant moment. "I actually went to this school when it was Hawthorne Elementary," Ms. Zachery stated. "I'm so happy to be involved with this and very happy with how it all turned out!"

The initiative, organized by Team Depot, the volunteer force of The Home Depot, saw over 150 employees from the company's Supply Chain team participating. They contributed materials such as lumber, plants, containers, furniture, irrigation systems, and landscaping stones for the three-day project.

The school's courtyard became a hub of activity as volunteers worked on various tasks like digging and planting. More than 80 tree seedlings were cleared to make way for new landscaping. Keep Smyrna Beautiful ensured these seedlings would be available for local residents as transplants.

Alongside Team Depot and Keep Smyrna Beautiful, the Atlanta Tool Bank provided essential tools including shovels and wheelbarrows. This collaboration highlighted the support of local nonprofits for community projects.

This effort is not a one-time event; Team Depot plans to return in spring to plant additional flowers and vegetables. Keep Smyrna Beautiful has also committed to maintaining the greenery.

Dr. Kim Kranzlein, Director of Adult Ed, expressed gratitude: "The boost of positive energy for staff and students is noticeable. We are so grateful for the community garden that has been provided by Team Depot, Keep Smyrna Beautiful, and Atlanta Tool Bank. We are already enjoying the fruits of your labor—literally and figuratively!"
