In recent games, the Kell Longhorns' offensive line has been a significant force on the field. Their performance in victories over Centennial and Cambridge was instrumental, as they contributed to more than 1,000 total yards of offense.
Georgia High School Football Daily’s Ted Langford visited Kell to present the Offensive Line of the Week award. The recognition ceremony included left tackle David Torres, left guard Chase Lewandowski, center David Ornelas, right guard Vincent Consolino, right tackle Brodey Bedwell, guard/tackle Kayden Jacobo, guard Keenan Thompson, and center/guard Jared Miller. Tight ends Brayden Rouse, Kason Fox, and Bryce Shelton were also acknowledged. The offensive line coaches are Brendan Tyner and Chris Pack.
"There are over 400 high school teams in Georgia," Mr. Langford said during the ceremony at Kell's practice gymnasium. "But at the end of the day, we made the decision that what you accomplished against a really good Cambridge team was what set you apart as the Offensive Line of the Week."
The Longhorns defeated Cambridge Bears 28-14, marking their first loss of the season. This victory propelled Kell to a 6-4 record and second place in Region 6-4A. Cobb's Athlete of the Week Moonie Gipson rushed for 246 yards and four touchdowns with help from his offensive line.
In their previous game against Centennial, which ended in a 61-49 win for Kell at home, they amassed 706 total yards (422 rushing and 284 passing), securing a playoff spot. The Longhorns will face Hiram on November 15 in the first round of the GHSA AAAA postseason.
The Offensive Line of the Week award is sponsored by Alfa Insurance. Special thanks were given to GHSFDaily and Alfa Insurance for recognizing these student-athletes who often work without much spotlight.
