The Cobb County School District is inviting students to participate in the Young Georgia Authors writing contest. Unlike many other competitions, this contest does not require participants to follow a specific prompt or genre, offering them the freedom to explore their creativity within a 1900-word limit.

Students can submit various types of original work, including short stories, poetry, essays, journalism pieces, academic reports, personal narratives, or any other form of writing. The final copy of the piece must be submitted without any drafts. Group collaborations are not allowed as this is an individual competition.

Each entry must be the student's own work and should be typed or handwritten on standard 8.5x11 inch paper. Only one side of the paper should be used for printing. If a submission approaches the word limit, it should include a word count.

Participants are advised not to bind or decorate their entries and instead use paper clips or binder clips for submission. Staples are discouraged. For those whose work is selected as their school's grade-level winner, a permission form signed by parents will be required for entry into the county-level competition.
