The Cobb County School District has earned recognition for its achievements in mathematics education, with 44 of its schools being acknowledged as "Georgia Math Leaders" by Georgia State School Superintendent Richard Woods. The honor underscores the schools' success in math and their contribution to student achievement.
Superintendent Woods visited Smitha Middle School to commend the recognized schools. This event followed a previous occasion when Cobb schools were acknowledged for their success in literacy.
Emphasizing the significance of student progress, Superintendent Woods remarked, "The banners and ribbons are designed to recognize growth. Growth is extremely important. We may not be at the promised land of proficiency yet, but it’s important to acknowledge that we are moving in the right direction."
Superintendent Woods also highlighted the collective efforts of school staff, including teachers, administrators, cafeteria workers, custodians, and support staff, in fostering an environment conducive to student success.
